We are not here to help a child for a day. We are here for the next fifteen years.

We are remodelling a house in La Romana for four boys. Not a place to pass through: the home where they will grow up into adults, with their own name, their own story and someone who does not leave.

Why this is different

15 years

The commitment does not end when the donation ends. We walk alongside each boy from age 4 until he is an independent adult.

4 children

We are starting small on purpose. We would rather change four lives completely than touch a hundred in passing.

1 method

We are not improvising with good intentions. We have a stage-by-stage support model, run with professionals, for every age.

Fifteen years, four stages

  1. Childhood

    Ages 4 to 10

Emotional safety, love, care and structure.

Stable routines of a real home, basic emotional education, mindful play.

  2. Pre-adolescence

    Ages 11 to 14

    Self-knowledge and handling emotions.

Individual and group therapy, sport and art, guided conversations about identity and values.

  3. Adolescence

    Ages 15 to 18

    Their own identity and responsibility.

One-to-one mentoring, learning about healthy relationships, first contact with job skills.

  4. Young adulthood

    18 and over

    Independence.

University or technical support, continued emotional support, a network of job opportunities, financial education.

In other words: we do not let go.

The home

It will be a home, not an institution. No visiting hours, no uniforms, no numbers instead of names. With live-in house parents, a psychologist, educators, and rules that look like any family's: respect, no violence, responsibilities according to age, and room to say what you feel.

Mission

Emotional, mental and human tools.

  • To recognise and value themselves as individuals.
  • To express their emotions freely and without fear.
  • To develop critical thinking and their own identity.
  • To break limiting social patterns.
  • To build healthy relationships as sons, partners and future fathers.

Vision

To be a model that changes how a new generation of men is raised: men who do not repeat harmful patterns, but build their identity out of love, empathy and self-knowledge.

My story

Bielka Vega, president of Fundación Niños del Sol
Bielka Z. Vega de los Santos · Architect · President

I am Bielka Vega, an architect by profession and a woman who, after going through a very serious health crisis in which I came close to losing my life, began to see life differently.

That experience made me stop, live more fully in the present and, above all, ask myself what my true purpose was.

When I looked deep within myself, I discovered something that had always been there: my desire to serve, to help and to do good, especially for the most vulnerable children.

For a long time, I dreamed of becoming a mother. And when life led me down a different path, I understood that perhaps I could give the love I carried within me in another way: by becoming a source of love, care and protection for many children.

Then I understood that perhaps God had given me a second chance not only to live, but also to discover what to live for.

That is how Fundación Niños del Sol was born.

It was not born from pity.It was born from love.

It was born from the desire to create a place where a child who has known abandonment, pain or vulnerability can find safety, affection, education and, above all, a new opportunity.

I want every child who comes to us to feel that his past does not determine who he will become. That someone believes in him. That someone is willing to walk beside him and not let go of his hand.

Because I learned something that changed my life: when you help a child stand up again, something inside you rises too.

Fundación Niños del Sol is my way of transforming a difficult experience in my life into a purpose.

It is a promise: to work so that the children who become part of it are not defined by the circumstances into which they were born, but by everything they can still become.

If life gave me a second chance, I want to devote part of mine to helping other children receive theirs.

Because changing a child's story does not always mean giving him the world.

Sometimes it simply means being there, listening, reaching out a hand… and not letting go.

That is the purpose of Fundación Niños del Sol.

How we tell this story

We do not use poverty as an argument. We do not show need, suffering or children's faces to raise funds. We show the process and the growth. If one day a child appears in our photos, it will be as part of a family, never as proof of a need. Our transparency is financial, not visual.

There are many ways to be part of this.

Pick one or several. Each one supports a different part of the home, and they all start with a message.

Become a monthly supporter

A fixed contribution every month is what makes it possible to plan fifteen years of support for each boy, instead of one month.

Sponsor the home

Cover one concrete area of how the home runs: school, food or therapy.

Give once

A one-time contribution covers food, school fees, psychological therapy or the upkeep of the home.

Give time

Help with schoolwork, sport, art, workshops and work days. It is what we need most and what is hardest to find.

You can also

  • Partner companies

Corporate partnerships, team volunteering and social responsibility programmes with measurable results.

  • Donate goods and services

Food, uniforms, materials, furniture, or professional services: medical, legal, psychological.

  • Run a fundraiser

Start a campaign with your school, church, club or group of friends. We give you the materials and support you throughout.

  • Spread the word

Share the project, connect us with people who can help and lend us your voice.

The accounts, in plain sight

Every six months we publish an income and expense report broken down by category: housing, food, education, health, staff and administration. The first one comes out six months after the first contribution, even if it is a single page. Every year we close with a full summary.

What the money is going to right now

The house has been chosen and the remodelling has started. Everything that comes in at this stage goes there, and you can see it: we publish the plans, the progress of the works and every space before and after. You will not have to take our word for it, you will have the photos.

We are not going to tell you that 100% of your contribution goes to the children. It would be a lie, and it would also be a bad sign. A home needs accounting, permits, insurance and someone to answer the phone. We are going to tell you what that costs and why, in every report, with the exact figure.

What is FUNISOL?

Is it the same as other foundations called Niños del Sol?

What makes this foundation different?

The commitment is long term. Instead of one-off aid, FUNISOL supports each boy for more than fifteen years, from age four until he is an independent adult, with a support model organised in four stages.

Why only boys?

Because there are fewer programmes focused on the emotional development of boys. The goal is for them to grow into conscious, responsible and emotionally healthy men who relate to others from respect and equality.
